Waitomo Glowworm Cave and Ruakuri Cave tour

See our New Zealand glowworms as you’ve never seen them before! Start off your day at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, the most popular of all glowworm caves in New Zealand. Learn all about the cave system, which ones stalagmites are, which ones stalactites and how they grow. The absolute highlight of this 1-hour tour is by far the silent boat ride through the famous glowworm cave. You’ll feel like you’re floating through the galaxy. The light of the glowworms reflects on the still water in the darkness and you can’t help but marvel at this natural wonder with an open mouth and goosebumps.

The Ruakuri Caves tour takes you through a different part of the Waitomo Caves. You get a bit more in-depth information about the New Zealand glowworms, why they love these caves so much and why it is they’re glowing.

Your Waitomo Accommodation

Conveniently located in the heart of Waitomo, only across the street from shops and restaurants is Waitomo Top10 Holiday Park. While it also is a campground, you’ll sleep in a comfy bed in one of their inviting Ensuite Cabins. The cabin has its own bathroom with a shower. It’s equipped with a queen and single bed and a small kitchenette with a fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave as well as cutlery and dishes. Let the day run out on your own little covered deck with a glass of wine and then head over the road for dinner and a drink. You’re welcome to use all of Waitomo Top10’s facilities, which include a small swimming pool as well as a hot tub. All the Waitomo Glowworm caves and other attractions (ziplining, day spa and more) can easily be reached either on foot or within a couple minutes of driving. Easy as!
