Cruise Doubtful Sound

Did you know Doubtful Sound is three times longer than its famous sibling Milford Sound and much harder to reach? The isolation of Doubtful Sound adds to its mystical charm and ruggedness. 

Your tour with Real Journeys starts in the small town of Manapouri with a cruise over Lake Manapouri to one of the most remote roads in New Zealand. From Wilmont Pass, you’ll get a first glimpse into the Sound. Having arrived at the shores of the sound, you’ll board your boat MV. Sindbad and cruise Doubtful Sound for about 3 hours. 

During the cruise, your guide will tell you all about Doubtful Sound and introduce you the local wildlife. With a bit of luck, you’ll see dolphins, fur seals and the rare Fiordland crested penguin. Cruising Doubtful Sound is an experience you’ll always remember.

Your Queenstown accommodation

You’re staying at the 5* Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa. The hotel is beautifully located on Lake Wakatipu on Frankton Arm. It will take you about 15 minutes to Queenstown town centre both by taxi and water taxi.

Eating and drinking at Hilton Queenstown

You will love to wine and dine at Wakatipu Grill; a luxurious and romantic experience right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. After dinner, round off your evening with a glass of regional wine at the Pinot Pit, an outdoor gas fireplace.

In the morning, enjoy a lush breakfast buffet that will offer everything to your heart’s content.
