Thrills and family-friendly fun at Velocity Valley Rotorua

Driving into Rotorua, you might’ve noticed the high, orange platform before. This bungy tower belongs to Velocity Valley Rotorua, the adventure playground for the young and the young-at-heart with a sense for adrenaline kicks.

Velocity Valley has four different rides with varying thrill levels. The most fun rides for families to enjoy together are the Shweeb Racer, Agro Jet and the Swoop. 

In the Shweeb Racer, you race against another family member in pedal-powered pods that hang on parallel rails.

Feel like James Bond in a boat chase with the Agro Jet. A professional jet boat driver races you through a custom-designed course, doing as many or few 360° spins and high-speed twists as you feel comfortable with.

The Swoop is possibly the most exciting and thrilling ride you can do together with family members. Up to three people can ride together. You get strapped in and pulled up the bungy tower. At 40 meters height, you decide when to let go by pulling the releasing cord. 

With the Family Package, you can do a total of 8 rides. These can be used by any family member (as long as one adult uses at least one ride). But we believe a family that does thrills together, stays together. No chicken out for the adults…

The newest addition to Velocity Valley Rotorua is Vertigo, the ultimate adrenaline rush that will see you hanging 43m above the earth in a specially designed harness before freefalling into the safety net below. Please note that Vertigo is not included in the Family Package or the Multiride Packages and needs to be purchased separately. Daring kids over 10 years are welcome to try (with parental consent, of course).

Roll downhill in the most fun way possible with ZORB

ZORB Rotorua is the world’s original site for downhill ball rolling, essentially tumbling down a slope inside a large inflatable ball. ZORB offers four exhilarating rides, including straight downhill tracks and twisty, zigzagging ones that provide a more chaotic experience. The experience can be taken solo or with friends inside the ball and you will get wet as there’s water in the ZORB.

With this package, you won’t have to decide which track you’ll do as you can try them all! Just deciding which one is your favourite might prove more difficult.

Your Rotorua Family Accommodation

The Deluxe Family Room at Rotorua Hideaway offers spacious, comfortable accommodation perfect for families. The main room comes with a full kitchen, chairs and table, as well as a couch and, visually separated, a queen-sized bed. A separate bedroom features two single beds for the kid(s). A special treat is the bubbly spa bathtub in the bathroom.

The hotel itself is set on four acres, offering a peaceful, countryside feel, while still being only minutes away from Rotorua’s town centre. It’s a great base for exploring nearby attractions like Velocity Valley, Zorb and Rotorua Skyline. Kids will love the playground and the friendly farm animals on the property, making the Rotorua Hideaway a great spot for the whole family to unwind after a day of adventure.
