See the stars of the Southern Hemisphere in a new light

Tekapo is the largest accredited International Dark Sky Reserve in the world. This means that even in town, you’ll be able to see the stars in the night sky brighter than in any other town. Now imagine just how dark it is on the top of a mountain and how bright you can see the stars sparkle from there! Late at night (depending on when it gets dark it can be later or earlier), your tour takes you up to Mt John Observatory at 1029m above sea level. The knowledgeable guides tell you everything about the stars of the Southern Hemisphere, the Milky Way and which planets you can see. Then you head inside the observatory and get a good peak at the stars and planets through the professionally used telescopes.  

Relaxing day at Tekapo Springs

Enjoy a day of full-on pampering at Tekapo Springs. The three hot pools soothe your tense muscles after too much working for too long. In between, cool off in one of the two cooler pools (one of them is adults-only). After some soaking, it’s time for your spa treatment. Let the massage therapist knead your muscles in a 1-hour Swedish massage that will leave you ultra-relaxed. Round off your day with some time in the sauna and steam bath and one more round of hot pools. You’ll sleep so well tonight! 

Your Tekapo Accommodation: Chalet Tekapo

Chalet Tekapo is a hidden gem in the heart of town and the lovely owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome in their little slice of heaven. 

Only a couple of minutes walk from the Church of the Good Shepherd, most Tekapo attractions and restaurants can be reached on foot. Leave your car parked up and enjoy that one drink more.

Sit in a secluded spot in the charming garden surrounded by flowers with a great view of stunning Lake Tekapo. 

You stay in a lovely studio room with a super king-size bed (can be split into twin beds), ensuite bathroom and fully functional kitchenette with hot plates. 

The chalet can accommodate up to 8 people in an apartment, which will be great for a relaxing getaway with the girls.
