Walter Peak BBQ Lunch and Lake Wakatipu Cruise

Jump on board the TSS Earnslaw, a 1912 Edwardian vintage twin screw steamboat. Launched in the same year as the Titanic, the historic vessel has hosted many guests and is still a beauty. Cruise the picturesque Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm, a working farm. At the lakeshore, overlooking the water, lies Colonel’s Homestead, your lunch spot for the day.

Tuck into an array of salads, vegetables and juicy meats from the BBQ (vegetarian options are available). And make sure to leave some room for the delicious dessert selection! 

The afternoon also includes a farm demonstration and you’ll have plenty of time to explore the stunning lakeside gardens.

Gibbston Food & Wine Tour

The nearby Gibbston Valley is most famous for its Pinot Noir. The grape thrives in Central Otago’s unique climate where it’s scorching hot in Summer and freezing in Winter. There’s usually just enough rain to tend to the vines but the area stays mostly dry with a lot of sun. Ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. 

These are just a few of the interesting facts you’ll learn on the wine tour with Queenstown Wine Trail. On this intimate tour, you’ll hear a lot more about how Gibbston even became a wine area and how to swoosh and swirl the wine properly before tasting.

You’ll visit three wineries and get to taste 15+ different wines. At one of the wineries, you’ll enjoy a lunch that’s perfectly paired with your wine. A tour of the Gibbston Valley Wine Cave is included and you’ll have plenty of time to taste other local delicacies. 

Your Queenstown accommodation

You’re staying at the 5* Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa. The hotel is beautifully located on Lake Wakatipu on Frankton Arm. It will take you about 15 minutes to Queenstown town centre both by taxi and water taxi. It’s one of the closest hotels to The Remarkables. And the shuttle bus will pick you up from the bus stop at the Hilton, saving you the trip to town.

The Guest Rooms are enormous and come with a king-size bed or two twin beds. In the seating area, relax in front of a cosy gas fireplace. Moving on to the bathroom, you’ll find a separate shower and bathtub.
