It all started in the stillness of 2020’s first lockdown. While the world slowed down, I was deep-diving into topics for my travel blog when a phrase jumped off the screen: “weekend getaways NZ.”
Something clicked.
In a world where the big travel companies were ignoring the domestic market, I saw a gap – and a chance to celebrate the magic of short escapes in our own backyard. I checked the domain. It was available. I bought it that day.
And that’s how Weekend Getaways NZ was born.
Since then, I’ve grown it into a boutique travel service, focused on creating stress-free, beautiful experiences right here in Aotearoa. Think two nights away with your best friends or partner, paired with pampering spa treatments, vineyard lunches, glowworm kayaking or hot tub soaks under the stars.
Whether it’s a milestone birthday, a romantic retreat, a girls’ getaway or just a much-needed reset, I personally handcraft each package. I’m also the one replying to your emails, making your bookings, and giving tips on the best places to eat and explore.
It’s just me here behind the screen, but my customers often tell me it feels like having a travel-savvy friend on speed dial. One recently replied, “I totally forgot how awesome you are!” — and honestly, that’s the kind of feedback that keeps me going.

I’m a total travel junkie who’s been obsessed with exploring new places ever since I was a kid. I started out adventuring with my parents, then with friends, partners, and sometimes solo – and honestly, that wanderlust has never gone away.
It’s probably no surprise that I started working in tourism when I was just 15. Helping people plan their dream holidays has been my thing ever since – and 25 years later, I still can’t imagine working in any other industry.
My love affair with New Zealand started back in 2009 when I came here for my OE, working for a motorhome company – and, of course, travel both the North and South Islands as much as possible. I completely fell in love with this incredible country.
And like many good travel stories… it led to love of a different kind! I met my partner Chris here, and in 2017 I made the big move from Switzerland to New Zealand. Now we live on the Auckland-Waikato border with our dog Bailey. Whenever we get the chance, we’re out exploring – especially the geothermal wonderlands around Rotorua and Taupō. When I’m not travelling, you’ll usually find me in the veggie garden, growing my own food.
