Take your time to wind through wide Canterbury plains before climbing into the Southern Alps, where dramatic peaks, deep gorges, and waterfalls appear around almost every corner. There are plenty of beautiful stops along the way, like Castle Hill’s giant limestone boulders or the viewpoints near the viaduct. Take your time, stretch your legs, and enjoy the journey.

By the time you roll down the other side of the Alps, you’ll be welcomed by the lush, rugged coastline the West Coast is famous for.
