Picture this: you’re gliding across Lake Rotoiti just as golden hour begins. Your guide points out native birdlife and spins fascinating Māori legends that breathe life into the bush and water all around.

As the kayak drifts gently, you arrive at the secluded Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools—accessible only by water or air. Slip into the soothing waters and feel every bit of tension melt away. Just warm geothermal bliss under an open sky.

Refreshed and hungry, you’re now ready for a lakeside gourmet BBQ. On the menu? Smoked king salmon, wild game sausages, fresh salad, and a Kiwi-style dressing, paired with sodas, wine, beer or cider. And for dessert a classic ice‑cream cone.

When night settles in, you paddle toward a hidden glowworm cave. That moment when you slip into the darkened cave and are welcomed by thousands of tiny lights reflecting in the water is pure magic! After soaking it in, you return across the lake under a canopy of stars. You’ll even hear some Māori star lore as you drift back to shore. Perfect for feeling small in the best way.

The Lake Rotoiti Starlight Gourmet Kayak Tour is a 4–4.5‑hour evening tour with about 2.5 hours of paddling. A moderate fitness level is recommended.

You paddle off from Otaramarae Boat Ramp (Okere Falls). Your gear – including kayaks, buoyancy aid, dry bags, and of course dinner – is fully provided.
