Step into the world of traditional pounamu stone carving during this hands-on 7-hour workshop at Sands Carving Studio. Your experience begins with a cultural introduction to pounamu carving in New Zealand, including the meaning behind traditional Māori carving forms and their significance.

After learning about design styles, you will create your own form and choose a piece of raw greenstone to work with. Under expert guidance in a professional carving workshop, you will shape, sand, and polish the stone using specialised tools, learning each step of the process along the way.
