With a massage, daily yoga and every meal covered, and sleeping in eco-luxury, there’s just as much built in for slowing back down again

Return Transfers from Queenstown

The pampering starts at the moment you land: Your driver collects you from Queenstown Airport or the CBD and drops you right at the door of Headwaters Eco Lodge.

A Guided Walk Through Glenorchy Village

Your guide walks you through Glenorchy village, from the historic red shed and wharf on Lake Wakatipu to the lagoon walkway. It’s an easy, unhurried introduction to the town before the bigger days ahead.

A Full Day Guided Walk on the Routeburn Track

Your guide takes you along the Routeburn Track’s most spectacular day section, climbing from Routeburn Shelter. Walk through ancient silver beech forest to Routeburn Flats, then on to Routeburn Falls Hut at the bushline. Along the way, you’ll cross the Routeburn on swing bridges, pass Bridal Veil waterfall, and pick up views of the Humboldt Mountains as the valley opens out. It’s a full day on your feet, roughly 6 to 8 hours return. But your guide will look after you and make sure you can go at your own pace.

Half-Day Kayak Safari to Pigeon Island OR Half-Day Horse Trek

Choose your own adventure for the day: a guided kayak safari across Lake Wakatipu to predator-free Pigeon Island, home to native weka and framed by the snow-capped peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park. Or a walking-paced horse trek along the head of the lake through the landscapes that stood in for Middle-earth’s Misty Mountains. Both run for around half a day and suit any experience level, so it really just comes down to whether you’d rather be on the water or in the saddle.

E-Bike Tour to Paradise

Swap the kayak or horse saddle for two wheels on a scenic e-bike ride out along the gravel road toward Paradise. Cross creeks and open river flats through some of Glenorchy’s most cinematic backcountry. The kind of scenery Lord of the Rings and Mission Impossible (and more recently Heart of The Beast with Brad Pitt) came here to film. It’s an easy, mostly flat ride, so the effort stays low and the views stay in focus.

60-Minute Massage

Round out the trip with a 60-minute massage back at the lodge, well earned after days of walking, riding, paddling and biking.

Food and Drink, All Taken Care Of

Food is fully taken care of for your whole stay: breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, plus soft drinks and barista coffee whenever you want them.

The kitchen at Headwaters Eco Lodge works garden-to-table with the seasons, and any dietary requirements or allergies are handled without fuss. It’s a perfect way to end an active, outdoorsy day!

Your accommodation in Glenorchy: Headwaters Eco Lodge

Headwaters Eco Lodge sits right in Glenorchy village, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and a short stroll from the wharf. It’s a genuine eco lodge: it generates its own solar power, and runs its own water and wastewater systems. It’s built from recycled and FSC-certified timber, set among native gardens dotted with sculpture and mosaic pathways. It’s also a non-profit organisation, run in support of the wider Glenorchy community, so your stay quietly gives something back to the town you’ve come to explore.

Your One-Bedroom Chalet comes with a king bed (or twin, if you’re travelling with a friend), an ensuite with a walk-in rain shower, and a private covered veranda looking out over the mountains. Original New Zealand artwork fills the space.

This Routeburn Adventure package includes the lot: breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, all soft drinks, and barista coffee whenever you want it, so there’s nothing left to plan or pay for once you arrive (apart from alcoholic drinks). The kitchen works garden-to-table with the seasons, and dietary requirements are handled without fuss.

Each morning opens with yoga in the lodge’s Humboldt Room, mountain views included. A perfect way to loosen up before a big day on the trail or a quieter one settling in.
